I’m in the process of completely rethinking my business model, and that will be my primary focus as I plan this year’s business retreat for myself. Your business model doesn’t have to be at all complex, but should provide the guiding force for all that you do, like guiding you to the opportunities to accept (and those to decline), the joint ventures and strategic alliances to pursue, and the new ideas you should retain and develop, as well as those to let go of.
Here’s are the 4 steps I’m following as I create the blueprint for my business model:
1. Make clients pay well for your most valuable commodity — your time. I see many service business owners tying themselves up with (and tying themselves down to) far too many 1:1 clients. You have only so many hours in the day, and at some point you’ll hit the wall and not be able to expand the number of 1:1 clients you see. Sure, you can hire and train additional staff to handle the overflow, but in many cases, you make less money in this model while tripling your headaches. Make your 1:1 time with clients your highest-fee service, charging a premium fee to dispense your expertise.

Recently I was asked to imagine that I was starting all over again, and as a newbie, how I would fill my business in 60 days. Things have changed tremendously since I began my online business in 2005, mostly for the better. Most of the steps, however remain the same. Best of all, the strategies I recommend to fill your business are the same ones that can be applied to any business, and then applied again and again to other online ventures. Here are 8 secrets to filling the prospect funnel in your business in 60 days:
1. Success mind set.
Don’t gloss over this strategy — it may be the most important of all. If you truly want to succeed in your business and are passionate about what you do, nothing will hold you back. This often means that you have to step out in faith that you’ll succeed, and most importantly, believe in yourself as a success. Sure, you may stumble, or even fall, but you must be willing to pick yourself back up and persevere — even without a safety net hanging under you.
2. Target market.

The term membership sites refer to the fact that it is exclusively restricted for the use among the members. A membership site only allows its members to surf and view the inside contents of that particular site. Most of these membership sites are paid sites. The paid membership sites charge a nominal fee from the viewers who wish to be a member of that particular site. These fees are usually charged on a monthly basis. But there are sites, which have six months’ subscription offer. It depends up on the regulation of the websites.
Membership sites offer various kinds of quality information to its subscribers. It also provides information, which the members cannot find elsewhere and will also search anything on the web if the topic for research is provided. There are innumerable membership sites, which offer variety of services to its members.
Some of these membership sites contain useful articles or information in a particular field or product or service and some publish the results of various tests and studies, while some membership sites provide access to web libraries or online libraries and other sites reference information. There are also some sites, which contain reviews, and there are some membership sites that act as a meeting place for like-minded people like the dating sites.

No one has ever logged onto the Internet for the first time and started pocketing dollars in a really short period of time. As with all things in life, there is a learning curve.
SOME PERSONAL HISTORY

How to make $1000 a month online from scratch – Part 7 of 8
Over the last 6 weeks, we’ve covered a lot of material. Most of it directly relates to attracting free targeted traffic to your new website. At some point, we need to turn the traffic into dollars.
In Part 2, I outlined the strategy for making this happen. As part of this strategy, I discussed a 3 prong attack for monetization. Those three prongs were:
1. Contextual Advertising
2. Affiliate Promotions
3. Own Product Sales

How to make $1000 a month online from scratch – Part 5 of 8
I read a classic quote from Les Brown the other day. He said, “You don’t have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to be great.”
I really love that quote. I see so many people fluffing around pushing around ideas and looking for an easy road to riches online and it gets frustrating when you know the truth. I can assure you right now, it’s really tough to get rich online. However, it’s not very difficult to replace part or all of your day job income with some persistent and calculated work.
As they say, a journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step. From my experience, it seems that first step is the hardest for people to take. Most people are so busy constantly changing direction looking for the easier road that they end up not going anywhere.

Many people start an online business full of hope and optimism. Unfortunately, somewhere along the way they lose not only interest, many of them lose money. Not everyone is cut out to have their own business.
Don’t waste your time if you are not a self starter
If you need someone standing over you telling you exactly what to do and when to do it, an online business may not be right for you. Self-starter people will not just sit around thinking about doing something. They decide what they need to do, and simply do it. They understand their strengths and weaknesses and able to accept them. They will find ways to get over obstacles to achieve their goals.
Don’t waste your time if you only like to work 9 to 5
The question is: how many hours do you have to work in order for your online business to thrive? Unfortunately, there is no easy answer to this question. Some people find that they can get away working eight hour days, but others have to put in twice as much time in order to be successful. As long as you are willing to work hard for as many hours as it takes, it does not matter what you will be faced with. Read the rest of this entry

I remember my first website sale. I made $13,000 Australian dollars selling a website that I had built from scratch myself. That sale was a big windfall for me and a moment I won?t forget because it was the first time I saw the real potential of online property investment.
Since that sale I?ve gone on to sell more than $150,000 USD in websites. Some of the sites I built myself, investing my own time and sometimes money, while others I have purchased and then sold for a profit at a later date.
I?ve never lost money on a website investment, although I have bought some sites that were not big money spinners – I got out with pretty much the same as I went in with. When profits are made though, the worst I have done is double my money. Read the rest of this entry
